Rest in Peace

Sometimes you hear about someone not keeping well , that someone is critical , is sinking .. and you pray sincerely for that someone and your prayers are answered . They make a miraculous recovery  and bounce back to life like nothing had happened . My prayers have been answered many a time . And  I secretly took pride in the fact that God answered my prayers . Although I am aware it was not just I who had prayed but many more who cared and prayed for the sick person .

Some are brought to the pinnacle of suffering and agony so much so that instead of praying for their recovery you pray that the suffering ends and when death happens  you are thankful that the suffering didn’t prolong. My prayers have been  answered in this manner  too  when God took this person in his embrace and freed him of the suffering and trauma of pain.Sometimes there were regrets if the person who died was young and had parents  who were old or children who still depended on them . But then again the family managed to accept the  situation and gather strength to overcome their sorrow .

But there are times when God denies you a chance to pray . Before you realize the tragedy has struck. The person has gone  like a candle blown out  by the wind  before it is finished . All that you experience then is disbelief , a gloom , an emotional sickness  and you are left groping for thoughts and words to pacify yourself first and then the family of the dead.
It will be a while before the whole thing sinks in , and much longer a while before you are able to accept it .For the family the vacuum left behind can never be filled .The silence may haunt .. the person is going to be missed for ever ! The light and laughter of the family now gone . The hyperactive peron, has been put to eternal rest and one finds solace in the three letters.....

‘RIP ‘- May his soul rest in peace !

Sometimes fate is so cruel, that we just get a chance to only say, "May His/Her soul rest in peace.
